easton Residents Can Donate Food & Toys to Support Local Families through December 12
easton, PA – Residents have an chance to support local families in need this holiday season through a food and toy drive hosted at Easton City Hall, running now through December 12. The initiative aims to provide crucial assistance to community members facing financial hardship, ensuring access to basic necessities during a challenging time.
The donation drive comes as many families grapple with rising costs of living and economic uncertainty. According to organizers,the need for supplemental food assistance in the Easton area is notable.”People deserve to eat. People deserve to eat no matter who you are, what you are, what you do in your life. I think that’s a basic necessity, and everyone has the right to it,” said Sullivan, a key organizer of the drive.
Donation boxes are located in the City Hall lobby and are accessible during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.Organizers are specifically requesting canned goods requiring minimal readiness – items like peanut butter, pasta, and rice cereal are especially helpful, as they frequently enough only require water for preparation.
So far,31 pounds of donated food,equivalent to 31 meals,have been delivered to The Neighborhood Centre,with plans to distribute further donations to area food pantries and banks as the boxes fill. Residents are encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys to help ensure a brighter holiday season for those in need.
