MURCIA,Spain – The Regional Hemodonation Center is issuing an urgent plea for blood donations, particularly for individuals with type A- and B- blood,as reserves in Murcia hospitals reach critically low levels. The center emphasizes the immediate need for these specific blood types while encouraging those with other blood types to donate on a regular schedule.
Hospital blood banks are experiencing a significant shortage, impacting the ability to respond to emergencies and scheduled medical procedures. Blood donations are vital for patients undergoing surgery, battling cancer, experiencing complications during childbirth, or recovering from traumatic injuries like traffic accidents.
To be eligible to donate, individuals must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh over 50 kilograms, be a resident of Spain, and be in good health.
Donations can be made this Wednesday at the Regional Center, located at Paseo de Garay,2,in Murcia, until 8:30 p.m. Another donation site will be open at the Santa María del Rosell hospital in Cartagena from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Additional blood extraction locations will operate from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Guadalupe medical office, and the Espinardo and Santa María de Gracia health centers, all in Murcia. The Regional Hemodonation Center stresses that consistent blood donations are essential to maintain adequate supplies and ensure life-saving care is available to those in need every day.
