Dolphins Fan Frustration: Plane Banners Target Tua, Grier, McDaniel

Dolphins Fans Fly Banner Calling for Change⁣ at GM, Coach Positions

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – A plane carrying a banner critical ‍of Miami Dolphins general Manager Chris Grier and Head Coach Mike McDaniel flew over Hard ‍Rock Stadium during Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, marking the latest demonstration of fan frustration with the team’s 0-3 start to the season. The banner read, “Grier⁢ & McDaniel – Time for Change!”

The aerial⁣ protest comes after a series of disappointing performances ⁤by the Dolphins, culminating in a 31-21 loss to the Bills⁤ on Thursday Night Football. Through three games, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has thrown four interceptions and fumbled⁢ twice, failing ‌to surpass 200 passing yards in ‌two of those contests. His performance ranks 31st of 34 NFL quarterbacks with a‍ minimum of 64 plays ‍in⁤ expected points added per play (-0.84), with a PFF grade (52.9) ranking 34th of 38 and a QBR (35.2) ranking 29th ‍of 33.

This isn’t ⁣the ⁣first time Dolphins fans have resorted to such tactics. A similar banner was ⁤flown during a game in 2023, highlighting growing discontent⁢ with the team’s direction. The current ‌display underscores a broader concern among the fanbase regarding the team’s inability to translate regular-season success into playoff victories.

Chris Grier has served as the team’s head ⁤executive ‍as 2016, compiling a 75-76 record and an 0-3 ⁣playoff record during ‍his tenure. Mike McDaniel took the helm as head coach in‌ 2022, leading the⁣ Dolphins ‍to a 28-26 record with two playoff appearances, both ending in wild-card round losses.

The Dolphins began the season with a 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, followed by⁢ a 33-27 home defeat against the ⁢New England patriots in Week 2.
