KNOXVILLE,tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) – Dolly Parton‘s sister, Freida Parton, is requesting prayers for the country music icon as she navigates recent health issues. The plea comes after Dolly Parton postponed her Las Vegas residency, her first in over three decades, citing health challenges.
Freida Parton shared a message on Facebook Tuesday afternoon, expressing her faith in the power of prayer and asking fans to join her in supporting Dolly’s recovery. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately,” she wrote, adding, “I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Dolly Parton announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency late last month, playfully referencing the need for a “100,000-mile check-up,” while acknowledging it wasn’t a typical visit to her plastic surgeon. She also recently missed the announcement of a new ride at Dollywood.
While the specific nature of Dolly Parton’s health concerns has not been disclosed,Freida Parton remains optimistic. “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine.Godspeed, my sissy Dolly,” freida Parton said. “We all love you!”
Despite limited public performances sence her “Pure & Simple Tour” in 2016,Dolly Parton has remained active,releasing books,developing a Broadway musical,and contributing to numerous albums.
