Dollar Shave Club Officially ‍Opens durham Headquarters, Citing Quality of Life and Talent

DURHAM, N.C.‌ – Dollar Shave Club celebrated the grand opening of it’s new 17,500 square foot‌ headquarters in Durham Tuesday,marking a significant investment in North Carolina’s growing business landscape. The move ⁢from California was driven by Durham’s appealing combination of a strong talent pool, high quality of life, and favorable cost of living ⁢for employees, according to company ‍leadership.

The decision⁣ to ‍relocate reflects a broader‍ trend of companies seeking ‍alternatives to conventional tech hubs. Dollar Shave Club’s new office, designed to attract rather than require employees to return to in-person work, has initial⁣ capacity for 80 employees with potential for future expansion. The company’s arrival adds to a surge⁣ of economic progress in the ⁣state, with 71 new projects totaling nearly $19 billion in capital investment reported through the second quarter of⁢ 2025, including major commitments from companies like JetZero.

“It’s really the opportunity to come to a ⁢great market with great talent, a great quality of⁣ life, and ⁢cost of ⁤living for the employees,” said dollar Shave Club⁢ CEO Larry ⁤Bodner, a Duke MBA graduate, at the ​grand opening event.”Instead of forcing employees to return to work, we wanted to create a magnet for a place they wanted to be.”

Durham Mayor Leo Williams welcomed the company, ⁤stating, “Welcome to the Bull ‌City. This is your home now, just make it what you want it to be. We appreciate diversity here, we appreciate​ everyone being ​so different, everyone having their own story.”

Durham⁣ Chamber President Geoff Durham highlighted the alignment between the company’s values and the community’s culture, noting the diverse depiction within the new headquarters. He stated, ‍”Once I started⁣ to understand that, I‌ realize how that corporate value align with this community.And then I look around this room, and I look at this space. What an amazing cross representation of exactly who this ‌community is and exactly who this company is.”
