Albacete Hospital’s Geriatrics Service Earns National Recognition as Top-Rated in Spain
ALBACETE, Spain – The Geriatrics Service at the albacete Hospital Complex has been recognized as the service with the best reputation in Spain, according to recent awards presented by MERCO (monitor de Reputación Corporativa). The accolades, announced this week, highlight the leading services, hospitals, adn medical professionals nationwide based on reputation. This recognition underscores Albacete’s growing prominence as a center for excellence in geriatric care, a field increasingly vital given Spain’s aging population.
The MERCO awards assess reputation based on a extensive analysis of various sources, including surveys of healthcare professionals, patient feedback, and media monitoring. Achieving the top ranking in Geriatrics signifies a commitment to high-quality care,innovative practices,and a strong positive perception among peers and patients. Dr. Pedro Abizanda, head of the Geriatrics Service at Albacete, was also individually recognized, ranking as the fourth most reputable geriatrician nationally.
Beyond Geriatrics, other Castilla-La Mancha services also received honors. The University Hospital of Cuenca was victorious in Intensive Medicine and Nephrology, while the University Hospital of Ciudad Real excelled in Nuclear Medicine. The Centro de Alcázar de San Juan Hospital earned recognition in Neurology and Ophthalmology, and the University Hospital of Toledo was lauded for its Radiation Oncology services.
In a broader ranking of hospitals nationwide, several Castilla-La Mancha facilities placed highly: the University Hospital Complex of Albacete (6th), the University Hospital of Ciudad Real (5th), the University Hospital of Guadalajara (4th), the toledo hospital complex (3rd), the Mancha Centro hospital (2nd), and the University Hospital of Cuenca taking the top spot.
Francisco González Llanos, head of the Neurosurgery service at the University Hospital of Toledo, was also recognized as the top neurosurgeon in Spain. These awards collectively demonstrate the high caliber of healthcare available within the Castilla-La mancha region.
