Fuel Up and Get free Milk: Department of Internal Trade launches Initiative to Support Dairy Farmers
Bangkok, Thailand – In a move to bolster the nation’s dairy industry and promote healthy consumption, the Department of Internal Trade has launched a new project offering free milk to consumers who purchase fuel at participating stations. The initiative, titled “Oil, adding fresh milk, filling the hearts of thai people do not leave each other,” aims to create new distribution channels for UHT milk and support dairy farmers facing challenges in selling their raw milk.
The project, a collaboration with four major fuel station chains – PT, PTT, Bangchak, and Susco – will distribute one million boxes of Thai-denmark UHT milk. Customers who spend 400 baht or more on fuel at any of the 878 participating branches across Bangkok and surrounding provinces between July 25th and July 28th, 2024, will receive a free milk receipt.
mr. Silphon Manee Net, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, highlighted the project’s alignment with the government’s policy of supporting Thai businesses and consumers. “This project not only helps farmers sell their raw milk and reduces the problem of surplus milk but also helps stabilize the price of raw milk sustainably,” he stated.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the department to expand milk distribution channels. Beyond fuel stations, the department is also working with retail and wholesale businesses, the Department of land Transport to distribute milk on buses, and health promotion activities like marathons.
“This project does not only help farmers drain milk and dairy products but also encourages Thai people to consume good health and is a role model of driving the concept of ‘Thai makes Thai use Thai to help Thailand’ to actually happen in everyday life,” added Mr. Manee Net.
The Department of Internal Trade is encouraging the public to participate in the project by purchasing fuel and receiving their free milk, thereby supporting Thai farmers and contributing to the nation’s economic stability and the health of its citizens.
