The project arrives with no advance singles, utilizing an unconventional marketing rollout that has drawn widespread attention across digital platforms and physical media drops.

The rollout began over the weekend when DIIV shared a pre-save link on Instagram, completely bypassing traditional press announcements or lead singles. According to reporting by Stereogum, select fans received physical business cards in the mail containing a QR code that directed traffic to the official DIIV website alongside a dedicated telephone number.
Callers dialing the automated hotline encounter an old-school, telemarketer-style message framing the upcoming record as “the future of alternative multimedia entertainment.” Adopting the aggressive, optimistic cadence of a tech start-up, the audio recording promises that the release will “challenge assumptions,” “create entire new categories,” and “think on a global scale.” Producer A. G. Cook further amplified the announcement by resharing teasers across his personal social media stories.

The partnership places DIIV alongside one of modern pop’s producers. A. G. Cook enters this collaboration on the heels of major production credits throughout 2026, including work on the soundtrack for the A24 film and pop mockumentary The Moment. Cook also contributed to his seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, which features a tribute titled ‘Magic Metal Montana’.
For DIIV, ZIRP! serves as the direct follow-up to their fourth studio album, Frog In Boiling Water. Opening up about the difficulties of their previous recording cycles, band member Colin Caulfield revealed to NME that the initial optimism surrounding their artistic rebirth eventually gave way to substantial operational and interpersonal hurdles.
“There was so much optimism and hope and with this one, I think we went into it with these really big ambitions to try to make a different kind of album and really stretch and push ourselves to make something new,” Caulfield shared with NME. “And I think we just did not anticipate that it would be a really, really big challenge to agree with those new guidelines, or that kind of exploded approach to the band.”
Caulfield noted that the band remained locked in a mindset that everything was progressing smoothly until unexpected friction materialized. “You’re not expecting it. And then resentments build…” he added.
