Diekholzen Faces Rising Debt: Council Approves Loans to Maintain Services

February 18, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

The municipality of Diekholzen is facing a significant financial shortfall, prompting concerns about its ability to remain solvent in the coming years. Kämmerer (treasurer) Marius Mogck has warned that increased borrowing will likely be necessary to maintain essential municipal functions.

According to reports, the Diekholzen municipal budget is currently running a deficit of approximately 1.5 million euros. Mogck’s assessment, reported by the Hildesheimer Allgemeine, suggests a deepening financial strain that could necessitate further reliance on credit lines.

Mogck currently serves as the Amtsleiter (department head) for Kämmerei (treasury) and Personalamt (personnel) for the Gemeinde Diekholzen (municipality of Diekholzen). He is based at Alfelder Straße 5, 31199 Diekholzen, and can be reached at 05121 202-40.

The financial difficulties come as Mogck has recently taken on a new political role in the neighboring Flecken Duingen. He was appointed to the Duingen town council in January 2023 as a replacement for Wolfgang Schulz, representing the Wählergemeinschaft Leinebergland (WGL). Prior to this appointment, Mogck was described as a civil servant within the Hildesheim district administration, with a particular focus on municipal finances.

The appointment to the Duingen council was made by Bürgermeister (mayor) Klaus Krumfuß. The Saale-Ith-Echo reported that Mogck’s focus within the Duingen council is expected to be on financial matters.

The municipality of Diekholzen’s general opening hours are Monday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM, Wednesday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM, Thursday 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM, and Friday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The office is closed on Tuesdays.
