Mercato: Deschamps to PSG – Riolo Dismisses Potential move
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly considered Didier Deschamps as a potential managerial appointment in 2023, but ultimately opted for Luis Enrique. Despite past interest from PSG’s leadership, prominent journalist Daniel Riolo believes a future move for the current France national team manager is highly improbable.
The revelation, surfacing from RMC Sport reports, highlights PSG’s prior pursuit of Deschamps before settling on Enrique. While Deschamps himself has indicated a preference for club management over national team duties, the possibility of him taking the helm at the French champions briefly gained traction. However, with Deschamps under contract with Les Bleus at the time, the prospect passed.
Riolo, speaking on l’after Foot, stated, ”Nasser Al-Khelaïfi adores Didier Deschamps? We knew it at one time. The contact was announced. I don’t think it will happen. Never even.” This assessment effectively closes the door on speculation linking Deschamps to the Parc des Princes.
Recent reports from L’Équipe suggest Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad is preparing a bid to secure Deschamps’ services following the conclusion of his tenure with the French national team. This progress further diminishes the likelihood of Deschamps returning to Ligue 1 with PSG.
