Diabetic Cat Seeks Loving Home – Munich Animal Shelter

A European Shorthair cat named Braunie, surrendered to the Munich Animal Shelter due to a diabetes diagnosis, is seeking a new home. The shelter is appealing to potential adopters who can manage his ongoing insulin needs and provide a stimulating environment.

Braunie, estimated to be around eight years aged and born in January 2018, was relinquished by his previous owner because of his medical condition. Despite this, shelter staff describe him as an “upbeat and charming” cat who would adapt well to various living situations, including families with children aged ten and over, or a quiet household with a single person.

According to the Tierchutzverein München, Braunie is generally compatible with other cats, provided they aren’t overly dominant. A key requirement for his new home is a securely netted balcony, as he enjoys observing his surroundings from outdoors. He is described as talkative, affectionate, and enjoys being the center of attention, craving both physical affection and playful interaction.

Currently, Braunie’s diabetes is stabilized with regular insulin injections, but requires ongoing management. Potential adopters are encouraged to contact the shelter’s Katzenhaus EG at 089/921000250 to discuss his specific care requirements and schedule an appointment.

Alongside Braunie, the Munich Animal Shelter is too seeking homes for two British Shorthair cats, Edelweiss and Chrysler, who arrived as part of a larger animal welfare case. These cats, born around 2024, are initially shy but become affectionate with patient handling. They also benefit from a secure balcony and would appreciate the company of respectful children or other feline companions. Information regarding their health can also be obtained by calling 089/921000250.
