Dexterity Law Launches AI-Powered M&A Firm
As Weil Gotshal collapses, a new model firm has emerged in the legal market with the launch of Dexterity Law. Artificial Lawyer reported that the newly minted M&A firm is led by Thomas Romer, a deal lawyer with more than 25 years of experience at Greenberg Traurig, BakerHostetler and other firms who also serves as vice chair of the ABA M&A Technology Subcommittee. Like other new model law firms, it is AI-empowered.
Targeting the Mid-Market Deal Bracket
Unlike traditional mega-firm practices, Dexterity Law focuses specifically on the two million to twenty million dollar enterprise value bracket. Romer stated that the firm aims to deliver high-quality, high-velocity M&A work at outcomes-based pricing that better aligns with client goals and budgets. The firm utilizes a tech stack intentionally designed to optimize efficiency across every stage of a transaction, from initial letters of intent and nondisclosure agreements through due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
The new firm stated that it capitalizes on the scale and promise of AI while avoiding the hype and keeping legal judgment where it belongs: with the lawyers.
They added that they have a business model that passes AI and tech-enabled cost efficiencies directly to clients and offers an alternative to Big Law hourly billing rates
.

The practice relies on flat fees rather than hourly billing rates. By passing technology-enabled cost efficiencies directly to clients, the firm attempts to offer an alternative to traditional legal billing structures for small and middle-market businesses growing through acquisitions or selling to private equity and other large buyers. Romer noted that this approach levels the field for sellers who were previously priced out of top-caliber representation under conventional models, and buyers benefit too by reducing acquisition costs without sacrificing expected quality.
