John C. Reilly is planning a full-fledged concert tour as his iconic character Dewey Cox in 2027, marking the 20th anniversary of the comedy film walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. The actor revealed the ambitious plans during a recent appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast, stating he intends to perform with the character’s band, The Hard Walkers, at numerous venues.
reilly reminisced about a promotional tour for the film’s 2007 release, which included eight cities. He noted the surprising success of those initial concerts, despite audiences being largely unfamiliar with the songs outside of having seen the movie.He also shared that Jack White has shown interest in a vinyl re-release of the film’s soundtrack.
The original 2007 tour benefited from unique circumstances, Reilly explained, recalling that studios were “desperate” due to the 2007-08 Writers Strike and willing to fund travel via private plane-a practice he believes is unlikely today. “The concerts went great, they really did love the music,” Reilly said.
