Devon Toews & NHLPA Goals & Dreams equip Colorado Military Families wiht New Hockey Gear
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews, in partnership with the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program, recently provided 20 complete sets of new hockey equipment too children of military families in Colorado. The donation, facilitated with support from Kroenke Sports Charities and the United Heroes League (UHL), aimed to remove financial barriers and allow thes young players to fully participate in the sport.
The children received a comprehensive equipment package, including a new stick courtesy of Bauer. The experience extended beyond just the gear; each child was assigned a personalized locker stall within the NHL Visiting dressing room at Ball Arena, creating a memorable and unique day. Toews and teammate Brock Nelson further enhanced the experience by leading an on-ice clinic for the young players.
“Military kids frequently enough face uncertain times and deal with a lot of challenges that can become barriers to the sport,” explained Shane Hudella, President & Founder of United Heroes League. “This gift and experience today go so far in expressing gratitude for their sacrifice and truly allows them to play the game they love. We are so thankful for all involved in making today possible.”

This donation marks the second consecutive year Toews has collaborated with NHLPA Goals & Dreams to support youth hockey within Colorado through the UHL. The ongoing partnership underscores a shared commitment to honoring military families by fostering opportunities, building community, and inspiring the next generation of hockey enthusiasts.
NHLPA Goals & dreams,established in 1999,has donated over $27 million to grassroots hockey programs in 45 countries. The United Heroes League, a 501c3 nonprofit, has provided over $30 million in free gear, grants, and experiences to qualified military families in the U.S. and Canada. kroenke Sports Charities focuses on improving lives through sports, supporting initiatives in education, health, fitness, and direct aid to those in need.
