The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store in Harmony, following a welfare check initiated by a concerned family member. The man, armed with an edged weapon, attempted to enter the store, prompting a response from law enforcement.

Around 3:30 p.m. on June 30th, deputies responded to the Family Dollar on Harmony highway. Upon arrival, they encountered a man attempting to gain access to the store while brandishing what authorities described as an “edged weapon.” A deputy strategically positioned their vehicle to block the entrance, safeguarding the public from potential harm.
According to officials,the deputy repeatedly instructed the man to discard the knife. When these verbal commands proved ineffective, the deputy deployed a taser in an attempt to subdue him. The taser deployment was unsuccessful,and the man continued to advance toward the store. After further warnings were ignored,the deputy discharged their firearm,striking the man.
The injured man is currently hospitalized and listed in stable condition.The deputy involved in the shooting was not injured during the encounter.
