Denise Welch Reveals Tiny Habits Sang First Dance at Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel’s Wedding
According to details shared by Welch while hosting a listening party for Tiny Habits’ upcoming album ‘Keepers’, the guest list featured Charli XCX and her husband George Daniel—who drums for The 1975—alongside prominent cultural figures including Anastasia Karanikolaou, Fai Khadra, Alex Consani, Devon Lee Carlson, Duke Nicholson, Sydney Lynn Carlson, Tyrell Hampton, Alex O’Connor, and Quenlin Blackwell.
Before the wedding festivities, Healy celebrated his Malibu stag do with a 1975 tribute band. Footage from the celebration captured the frontman singing along to ‘The Sound’ before inviting his doppelgänger to join him on stage.
From Instagram Discovery to Wedding Stage
Explaining how the musical pairing for the wedding came together, Welch told the Camden crowd that Healy initially discovered Tiny Habits via Instagram. Bechtel later surprised him with tickets to see James Taylor, whom Healy counts as a lifelong favorite artist. Tiny Habits served as the opening act for Taylor, cementing Healy’s fandom.
Healy and his band subsequently covered Taylor’s 1968 classic ‘Carolina In My Mind’ and released a collaboration titled ‘Anything He Was’. Welch noted that the latter track “went absolutely viral,” adding jokingly to the audience, “They haven’t asked me to do a song with them yet but the night is young.”
Tiny Habits’ forthcoming album ‘Keepers’ is scheduled for release on August 28 via Mom+Pop Music. The band’s association with the Healy family highlights how modern artists leverage social media discovery alongside legacy support slots to build high-profile industry alignment.
The 1975’s Next Creative Chapter
The wedding follows Healy and Bechtel’s public engagement confirmation at a Charli XCX show in 2024. At the time of the engagement, Welch expressed her enthusiasm on television, stating she had known for weeks and that Bechtel was “everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.”
On the musical front, The 1975 has confirmed that two new albums are currently in development. One of those upcoming projects carries the working title ‘DOGS’, a moniker the band flashed across the screens at the conclusion of their Glastonbury headline performance last year.
