Dell XPS 16 (2026): Review, Battery Life & Performance for Mobile Work

March 23, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Dell has unveiled the 2026 iteration of the XPS 16 laptop, positioning it as a high-performance, portable workstation designed for professionals, and creatives. Priced starting at $1,749.99, the new model emphasizes battery life, processing power, and a slim design intended to address the needs of mobile workers, according to a Dell product page.

The XPS 16 features a CNC-machined aluminum chassis and a thin profile, aiming to balance durability with portability. Dell highlights the laptop’s suitability for users who frequently move between different work environments, such as offices, co-working spaces, and client meetings. The design prioritizes a large, responsive haptic touchpad and a comfortable keyboard layout for extended apply.

Powering the XPS 16 is Intel’s newest Core Ultra 300 Series, including the Core Ultra X9 388H processor. This hybrid architecture combines performance and efficiency cores to manage demanding tasks and background operations. The laptop can be configured with up to 64GB of LPDDR5x-9600 memory and up to 4TB of PCIe 5.0 SSD storage, designed to minimize bottlenecks when working with large files and complex applications.

Graphics processing is handled by Intel Arc integrated graphics, which Dell states are improved over previous generations. While not intended for high-end gaming, the integrated GPU supports video streaming, photo editing, and light creative production. The larger chassis of the XPS 16, compared to the XPS 14, allows for slightly improved thermal dissipation, enabling sustained performance during intensive tasks.

Dell claims the XPS 16 can deliver over 43 hours of local video playback and more than 27 hours of streaming video under controlled testing conditions. Real-world usage is expected to be lower, but the company asserts the laptop is designed for all-day battery life. Battery performance will vary depending on the display configuration chosen, with OLED displays drawing more power than standard LCD options.

The XPS 16 is equipped with a 70Whr battery and supports fast charging via USB-C. The laptop’s efficiency also extends to low power consumption during sleep and instant wake-up capabilities. The 16-inch display offers high resolution and enhanced clarity, providing additional screen space for multitasking and detailed work.

Dell offers the XPS 16 with both standard LCD and 3.2K OLED display options. The company emphasizes the improved brightness and efficiency of the new displays, designed to enhance productivity and visual comfort in various environments. The laptop is marketed as a solution for remote work and frequent travel, combining portability, endurance, and performance.

Financing options are available, including 12 months of special financing on purchases of $799 or more, and customers can earn rewards points through the Dell Pay Credit Account and Dell Rewards program. These offers are valid through April 29, 2026.
