Delhi Traffic Police set diversions at 30 points for Sunday protests
Traffic restrictions will remain in place across Delhi for a second consecutive day on Sunday, driven by an ongoing law and order situation surrounding protests called by the Cockroach Janta Party. According to an advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police late Saturday, diversions are set to be enforced from 6 am onwards at 30 key points across the city, affecting travel near Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Mandi House, and Patel Chowk.
Protesters Demand Removal of Chief Election Commissioner
The restrictions follow a fresh call for protests demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. At a press conference held at HKS Surjeet Bhawan on Saturday, Cockroach Janta Party leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that marches to Jantar Mantar would continue daily until their demands are met. Shinde also alleged that protesters, including Abhijeet Dipke, faced inhumane treatment by Delhi Police during detention.
Student organisations have joined the demonstrations. Srijan Bhattacharyya, general secretary of the Students’ Federation of India, stated that students would hold peaceful demonstrations and that police barricades would serve as their protest sites wherever they are stopped.
Traffic Disruptions Hit Central Delhi Intersections
Vehicular movement will face severe disruptions around Central Delhi intersections. Impacted locations encompass the Rail Bhawan roundabout, the Tolstoy Marg-Janpath crossing, Patel Chowk, the Ashoka Road-Jantar Mantar Road roundabout, Gol Dak Khana, the Jai Singh Road-Sansad Marg crossing, as well as multiple junctions encircling Connaught Place.
Further roadblocks are anticipated at the Minto Road-Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg junction, Mandi House, the Samrat Hotel roundabout, the Lodhi Road flyover, the Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg crossing, the Neela Gumbad roundabout, and the underpasses situated below the Moti Bagh and Bhikaji Cama Place flyovers.

Commuters traveling toward railway stations, inter-state bus terminals, and the airport through New Delhi and Central Delhi have been advised by the Delhi Traffic Police to avoid non-essential travel and allocate extra transit time. Authorities noted that restrictions will be regulated or relaxed based on real-time assessments.
Police Urge Public to Monitor Real-Time Updates
The Delhi Traffic Police have urged the public to monitor official updates through their website and social media channels for real-time diversions.
