DOVER — Teh Delaware State men’s basketball team is still searching for its first Mid-Eastern Athletic conference (MEAC) win of the season. despite a strong effort, the Hornets fell to Howard, 83-76, on saturday, marking their third loss in the last four games.
Delaware State (4-14, 0-5 MEAC) showcased resilience, battling back from an early deficit. However, Howard (8-9, 3-2 MEAC) proved too strong, especially in the second half. The Bison were led by a dominant performance from their frontcourt, which consistently exploited mismatches against the Hornets.
“we fought hard, but we made some critical mistakes down the stretch,” said Delaware State head coach Stan Waterman. “Howard is a well-coached team, and they capitalized on our errors.”
Jalen Clay led the Hornets with 21 points, showcasing his scoring ability.Dequan Watson added 16 points and 7 rebounds, providing a strong interior presence. Tho,the Hornets struggled with turnovers,committing 15,which led to 18 points for Howard.
