Former Flyweight Champion Figueiredo Eyes Return to Dominance Against Jackson at UFC Rio
Rio de Janeiro – Deiveson Figueiredo aims to reclaim his championship form this Saturday at UFC Rio when he faces surging bantamweight contender Montel Jackson in a pivotal co-main event bout. The fight marks Figueiredo’s return to action following back-to-back losses to Brandon Moreno in their historic flyweight title rivalry. He conducted his training camp in Natal, Brazil, preparing on the country’s Northeastern coast before traveling to Rio de Janeiro for the fight.
Jackson earned his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in June 2018 and has since compiled a 9-2 record within the Octagon. He currently boasts a six-fight winning streak, dating back to March 2021. While Figueiredo was establishing himself as a dominant force – capturing and defending the flyweight belt – Jackson was steadily climbing the bantamweight ladder. Despite Jackson’s important size advantage at 5-foot-10, Figueiredo remains unfazed.

He’s a guy with a good winning record, and I’m coming from two consecutive losses, but I know the mistakes I made that led to these two losses.
