FORT WORTH, Texas – Colorado coach Deion Sanders revealed Saturday night he suspects he has developed additional blood clots in his leg following the Buffaloes’ 35-21 loss to TCU.
“Cat’s out of the bag, all right.I think I’ve got more blood clots,” Sanders said. “It don’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy.… I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.”
Sanders, 58, indicated he has a doctor’s appointment scheduled for Monday to address the issue. He was observed sitting at times during the game.
This isn’t the first time Sanders has publicly battled blood clot complications. He underwent procedures to remove a blood clot from his right leg and straighten toes on his left foot prior to Pac-12 media day in 2023, his first year at Colorado. He also had two toes amputated in 2021 due to blood clot issues while coaching at Jackson State.
Sanders previously underwent treatment for bladder cancer this summer, and was declared cured by his doctor before the season.A portion of his intestine was reconstructed to function as a bladder.
Colorado’s record currently stands at 2-4 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play.
