Newly released Justice Department files reveal a more extensive and intimate relationship between bestselling author Deepak Chopra and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein than previously acknowledged, including emails where Chopra invited Epstein to bring “your girls” on trips to Israel and Switzerland.
The correspondence, spanning from 2016 to 2019 – the year Epstein was arrested on sex trafficking charges – contradicts Chopra’s earlier statement this month that his contact with Epstein was “limited and unrelated to abusive activity.” Chopra had written on X, formerly Twitter, that he was “deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case” and regretted “poor judgment in tone” in some past exchanges.
The files, part of a larger release of documents related to Epstein, show frequent communication between the two men via email and text message, with arrangements for in-person meetings at Epstein’s Modern York townhouse, Florida home and Paris apartment, according to a CNN review of the correspondence. Messages reveal Chopra often signed communications with “Love” or “XO,” and at one point declared to Epstein, “I’m deeply grateful for our friendship.”
On at least two occasions, Chopra extended invitations to Epstein that included the phrase “bring your girls.” In a March 2017 email, Chopra asked Epstein to join him in Israel, writing, “If you want utilize a fake name. Bring your girls.” He followed up with, “Your girls would love it as would you.” Later that year, Chopra again invited Epstein to bring “your girls” to a workshop he was hosting in Switzerland, according to CNN. It is currently unknown if Epstein accepted either invitation.
The correspondence also includes a 2017 exchange where Chopra described former Saudi Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel as being “v sweet – like your girls.”
In a philosophical exchange from 2017, Chopra wrote to Epstein, “God is a construct Cute girls are real.” When Epstein responded, “so when the girl says oh my god. . ?”, Chopra replied, “Yes That’s divine tran=cendence.” In the same year, Chopra responded to Epstein’s request to “discover me a cute israeli blonde. . Matter over mind” by saying he could, but added a “warning”: “They are militant aggressive and v sexy.”
A text exchange reveals a discussion about a redacted woman. When Epstein asked how Chopra met her, Chopra responded, “In many ways [redacted] is more connected to ‘reality’ than the brilliant scientists. I felt connected to her at the level of awareness.” Epstein replied, “I liked watching you zero in on your prey . Made me smile,” to which Chopra responded, “I not a predator Just a lover.”
The files also show Chopra sharing links to videos of himself, including guided meditations, with Epstein. Epstein, in turn, sought Chopra’s input on business ventures. In 2017, Chopra and his Jiyo wellness app co-founder, Poonacha Machaiah, sought Epstein’s assistance with their venture, arranging a meeting in San Diego to “walk [Epstein] through Jiyo Value proposition,” according to an email. Epstein offered to forward the pitch to “the three chairman of the largest insurers.”
The Chopra Foundation received a $50,000 check from Epstein’s “Gratitude America” foundation in 2017, earmarked for scientific research, according to the files. Epstein also discussed creating an “aura” app with Chopra, suggesting, “Every woman needs a goodness meter.”
As Epstein’s legal troubles mounted in early 2019, Chopra appeared to offer support. He sent Epstein a text message from India expressing his “love,” to which Epstein responded, “Can you send it in female form J.” The two men also discussed Epstein’s “bad press,” with Chopra advising him to “Stay silent Meditate.”
Epstein frequently inquired about Chopra’s travels and invited him to social gatherings, seeking to include him in meetings with business associates. He described Chopra to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak as “very amusing and a good guy filled with troves of stories,” suggesting Barak might enjoy a conversation with him. Epstein also arranged for sweatshirts with Chopra’s initials and an American flag to be made for him.
