Driven by the opportunity to pursue advanced studies without financial burden, a Jordanian student continued his education by enrolling in a master’s program after completing his bachelor’s degree debt-free. He subsequently earned a master’s degree in curriculum and teaching at the German Jordanian University (GJU).
The German Jordanian University, established in 2005, offers a range of graduate programs requiring a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum grade of “good” for admission. While a “good” average doesn’t guarantee acceptance, it is a prerequisite. Applicants are also required to demonstrate English language proficiency, achieving a minimum score of 80 on the TOEFL iBT or 6.0 on the IELTS.
GJU’s graduate programs involve specific financial commitments. Currently, the credit hour fee is 120 Jordanian Dinars (JOD). Additional fees include a JOD 25 application fee, JOD 120 in admission/acceptance fees, a JOD 150 refundable collateral fee, JOD 120 for registration each semester, JOD 60 for computer fees per semester, and JOD 50 for medical insurance each semester.
Admission to GJU graduate programs requires specific documentation, including two official copies of the bachelor’s degree transcript and certificate, both stamped by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. A certified photocopy of the applicant’s passport is also required, as is a certified copy of a personal identification card for Jordanian students. Applicants must also submit three personal photographs and a recommendation letter, alongside their TOEFL or IELTS results.
Jordan offers relatively affordable higher education options, attracting students seeking Master’s degrees. The country’s geographic location may also be a factor for some students, offering proximity to their home countries, according to Mastersportal.com.
