Waterville Mourns Unexpected Passing of Local Man, John (Johnny) O’Connor
Waterville, Co. Kerry – The community of Waterville is deeply saddened by the unexpected but peaceful death of John (Johnny) O’Connor, which occurred on Monday, September 8th, 2025. A beloved father, brother, and friend, mr. O’Connor’s passing leaves a significant void in the lives of many throughout the region.His sudden departure has prompted an outpouring of grief and support for his family as they navigate this challenging time.
Mr.O’Connor is survived by his five children – Seán, James, Alice, and olivia - and their mother, Holker.He is also remembered fondly by his siblings Margaret (Browne), Tommy, Mary (Murray), Lucelle (Sinclair), Clodagh (Sugrue), and Regina (Kelly), as well as his daughter-in-law Siobháin, partner Ann, and a wide circle of extended family, neighbours, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary O’Connor.
Reposing will take place at his brother Tommy & Cait’s residence in Breahig, Waterville (V23W564) on Tuesday evening, September 9th, and at Fitzgerald’s Funeral Home, waterville (V23RK24) on Wednesday evening, September 10th, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Finian’s Church, Waterville, on Thursday morning, September 11th, at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
The family has requested that family flowers be omitted, with donations, if desired, going to The Air Ambulance. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person. Further details regarding the live stream link will be released separately.
