Darius McCrary Arrested: ‘Family Matters’ Star Faces Child Support Warrant

Family Matters’ Star ‌Darius McCrary ⁢Arrested Near U.S.-Mexico Border

SAN DIEGO ‌- Former “Family Matters” actor Darius McCrary, 49, was arrested Sunday near the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego ⁢after being identified as a ⁢fugitive with a felony warrant out of Michigan. He is currently ‍being held ​without bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on ​Wednesday.

The warrant⁢ stems ⁣from a missed court date related to ​unpaid‍ child support,Entertainment Weekly reported. U.S.Border Patrol officers‍ made the arrest ‌after discovering the outstanding warrant.

“He did ‌not know at the time that he had a warrant, or he would ‍have taken care of it,” McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow,‍ told Entertainment Weekly. Barlow added that McCrary was traveling ⁤to ‌Tijuana to collaborate with ‌a real estate developer on a project building homes for the homeless, intending “to speak encouragement and light to the ​homeless.”

This arrest marks McCrary’s third ‍in the past 10 years,according to peopel.

McCrary is best known for his ⁣role as Eddie Winslow in 215 episodes of “Family Matters,” which aired from 1989 to 1998. His acting career also​ includes 86 episodes as Malcolm Winters on “The ‌Young and ​the Restless” (2009-2011) and voicing the character Jazz in⁢ the 2007 ⁣film ⁢”transformers.” He has also worked as a film producer. IMDb records indicate consistent acting work from 1987 to 2025, with a period of reduced activity between 1989 and 1993.
