Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has secured the return of Australian batter D’Arcy Short for the 2026 T20 Blast.
The re-signing of the 35-year-old comes after a standout performance in the current season’s competition, where he currently leads all run-scorers with 551 runs – including five half-centuries – at an average of 42.38 heading into the quarter-finals. This commitment ensures Gloucestershire retains a key player as they build towards future T20 campaigns.
Short, a left-handed batter who also offers a spin-bowling option, initially joined Gloucestershire for the group stage of the 2024 Blast. His impact was immediate, quickly establishing him as a pivotal figure in the team’s lineup.
“It’s so great to see D’Arcy back for the 2026 Blast,” said Gloucestershire head coach Mark Alleyne. “After a slow start, he proved to be such a brilliant addition to the Glorious, becoming the leading run-scorer across the two groups.”
Alleyne further emphasized Short’s all-round value, stating, “He is much more than that, though, as some of his innings can really put the opponent on the back foot. His bowling, too, can offer an option to complement our attack, so we look forward to his return.”
