A former employee of gymnastics facilities in Danvers and North Andover has been charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, according to prosecutors. Allegations against the individual, identified as Davenport, reportedly began surfacing in the early 2000s.
Davenport has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. He was released on his own recognizance, with the condition that he maintain no contact with the alleged victims and witnesses.
Yellow Jackets Gymnastics, where Davenport was previously employed, issued a statement clarifying that the company underwent a change in ownership and management in 2011.Davenport was no longer employed by the facility at the time of this transition and has not worked for the current ownership at any of their locations. the Palaestra Gymnastics Academy in North Andover, another former place of employment, is now closed.
Davenport’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 2. His defense attorney, John Slattery, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
