Dallas vs Houston: Match Snapshot & Musa Goal – [Date]
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Petar Musa scored in the 86th minute to lift FC Dallas to a 4-3 victory over the Houston Dynamo in a chaotic Texas Derby on Saturday night. The late goal completed a comeback for Dallas, who had initially raced to a two-goal lead before Houston responded with three unanswered goals.
Logan Farrington opened the scoring for Dallas in the 6th minute, assisted by Shaq Moore and goalkeeper Michael Collodi. He doubled the advantage just eight minutes later, receiving help from rookies Herman Johansson and Joaquín Valiente, marking his 12th goal in 66 career appearances. It was the first professional assist for both Johansson, and Valiente.
Houston quickly turned the tide, scoring three goals in a four-minute span. Guilherme Santos found the back of the net in the 29th minute, followed by a header from Erik Sviatchenko off a corner kick in the 31st. Lawrence Ennali then completed the quick turnaround, giving the Dynamo a 3-2 lead in the 33rd minute.
Playing with a man down after Erik Sviatchenko received a second yellow card in the 69th minute, the Dynamo conceded an own goal in the 54th minute, leveling the score at 3-3. Duane Holmes was credited with the own goal.
The stage was then set for Musa, who secured the win for Dallas with his sixth goal of the season. Farrington assisted on the game-winning play. Musa now trails only Sam Surridge of Nashville SC, who has seven goals, in the league scoring race. He has scored 40 times in his first 65 matches.
FC Dallas (2-1-2) will replay the match on KDFI More 27 on Tuesday, March 24, from 7-9 p.m. CT as part of an FC Dallas Rewind broadcast.
