dallas County alliance Awards $20,000 in Grants to Five Local Small Businesses

The Greater Dallas County Progress Alliance has distributed $20,000 in grants to five Dallas County businesses, marking the first awards from its newly established Small Business Grant Fund. The recipients – mashe Modern, Boyd Creative, Drifters, Redfield quilt Shop, and Noted Studios – will use the funds for vital improvements ranging from updated equipment to enhanced marketing efforts.

This initiative represents a strategic evolution for the Alliance, shifting away from its conventional Revolving Loan Fund to directly address the current needs of the countyS growing small business sector. The grant fund was unveiled in April and aims to provide targeted support for businesses seeking to enhance operations and foster growth. Awards were persistent based on demonstrated need in areas like furniture, fixtures, technology, marketing, and professional development.

The grant recipients include:

Mashe Modern (Dallas Centre) – a quilt shop
Boyd Creative (Dallas Center) – a print shop
Drifters (Bouton) – a bar and resturant
Redfield Quilt Shop (Redfield) – a quilt shop
* Noted Studios (Adel) – a music academy

“As we explored the evolving needs of our growing small business community, it became clear that the RLF was no longer the most effective use of our resources,” said Rachel Wacker, executive director of the alliance. “With the full support of our board of directors, we reallocated those funds to better serve small businesses across Dallas County.” The Alliance plans to continue the small Business Grant Fund in future cycles, providing ongoing support for local entrepreneurs.
