Dallas Defeats Wilkes-Barre Area 47-7 to Reach 5-0
Dallas reached the midway point of the regular season with a 47-7 victory over visiting Wilkes-Barre Area. Six players reached the end zone as the Wyoming Valley Conference team advanced to 5-0, securing their fourth mercy-rule win of the season behind 464 yards of total offense.
Opening Momentum and Balanced Offense
Dallas established control immediately on Friday night against the defending District 2 Class 6A champions. Trevor Slavinski returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a score. Coach Rich Mannello noted Slavinski’s speed on the game’s first play.
Quarterback Talan Geskey completed eight of 14 passes for 191 yards, connecting with four different receivers. Hunter Pitcavage led the ground attack with 84 yards on 12 carries, scoring two touchdowns. Pitcavage also contributed defensively with three tackles for losses.
Scoring Breakdown and Statistics
The Mountaineers piled up 348 yards while scoring 33 points across the middle two quarters. Tyce Mason caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Geskey, and Bobby Gallagher added a 5-yard rushing touchdown following a 41-yard reception.
Wilkes-Barre Area dropped to 1-4 on the season, with their sole score coming on a 75-yard touchdown run by Wonder Woods. Woods finished with 76 rushing yards on two carries.
Dallas responded before halftime with Pitcavage’s second touchdown run of the night from 11 yards out. In the third quarter, Marc Saracinaj added a 9-yard touchdown run, and Owen Oldt capped the scoring with a 2-yard run.
Looking Ahead in the Season
Despite remaining the conference’s only undefeated team at 5-0, coach Mannello emphasized the need to maintain focus. The team reset its mindset heading into the second half of the schedule, leaving the opening weeks behind to prevent any late-season drop-offs.
