DETROIT – The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Detroit Lions 10-6 on Thursday night, bolstering their playoff hopes in a crucial Week 14 NFC showdown. The victory improves Dallas to 6-5-1, while Detroit falls to 7-5.
The game, a tightly contested battle between two teams vying for a wild card spot in the National Conference, saw several pivotal moments. Early in the first quarter, the Lions drew first blood with a touchdown by Gibbs (2:00). The Cowboys were ultimately forced to settle for a field goal after Detroit’s defense forced them to make one (9:20).
The Lions failed to score on their subsequent drive (8:40). The game remained a defensive struggle throughout the second half, ultimately ending with the Cowboys securing the narrow victory.
Both teams entered the game with significant stakes. Detroit, the defending NFC North champions, had lost three of their last five games after a 5-2 start, falling behind division leaders Chicago (9-3) and Green Bay (8-3-1).
