Dacia Sandero Cedes European Sales Crown to German Rival After Years of Dominance
For the first time, Dacia Sandero has fallen from its leading position in European car sales, overtaken by a German model after eight months of 2023. While still performing strongly, Sandero sales dipped nearly 10% year-over-year, totaling 166,000 units sold between January and August. This shift marks a significant moment in the European automotive market, signaling a potential change in consumer preferences and brand loyalty.
The Sandero’s long-held top spot-built on affordability and practicality-is now challenged as buyers increasingly consider choice options.Renault Clio remains in second place with 150,000 units sold, facing a ample gap to close in the final months of the year. Dacia Duster secured third position with 120,500 units, experiencing a 2.7% increase in sales. Ford Puma is nearing 100,000 units despite a 4% decrease, while the recently launched dacia Bigster has yet to break into the top 50 European models.
