Czechia vs Ireland: Live Updates & Build-Up | Euro 2024 Qualifier
The Republic of Ireland’s national football team will face Czechia in a FIFA World Cup 2026 play-off semi-final in Prague on Thursday, March 26th, with live coverage planned across RTÉ platforms.
RTÉ will broadcast the match live on RTÉ2, the RTÉ Player streaming service, and RTÉ Radio 1, bringing its broadcasting team to the Czech capital. Darragh Maloney will present the coverage, joined by analysts Didi Hamann and Shay Given. Commentary will be provided by Des Curran and Ronnie Whelan.
The broadcast represents a significant undertaking for the Irish national broadcaster, with a full relocation of its team to Prague. RTÉ Soccer Correspondent Tony O’Donoghue will report from the Irish camp, conducting pre- and post-match interviews. Jacqui Hurley will host Inside Sport on RTÉ Radio 1 from 6 to 10 pm on the day of the game, featuring commentary from John Kenny and Kenny Cunningham. Marie Crowe will broadcast live from the centre of Prague on the eve of the match, providing expert analysis. The winner of the semi-final will advance to a home play-off final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Tuesday, March 31st, against either Denmark or North Macedonia. The Republic of Ireland is aiming to secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
