Iván Romeo of Movistar retained the overall lead at the Vuelta a Andalucía Ruta Ciclista del Sol on Sunday, heading into the final stage of the race, despite Tom Crabbe (Flanders-Baloise) winning Stage 4 in Pozoblanco.
Crabbe secured his second career win this season, finishing ahead of Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) and Sandy Dujardin (TotalEnergies) in a sprint finish. The race, now in its 99th iteration, is one of cycling’s established early-season events.
Andreas Leknessund (Uno-X Mobility) remains seven seconds behind Romeo in the general classification, whereas Romain Gregoire (Groupama-FDJ United) is third. The final stage, a 106.8km ride from Córdoba to Lucena, will determine the overall winner of the 803.4km race.
The Vuelta a Andalucía is being run concurrently with the UAE Tour and Volta ao Algarve, all concluding on Sunday, and is available to US audiences on Max. Recent stages have seen Milan Fretin (Cofidis) claim a victory in Stage 3, following a hard-fought sprint.
Pavel Sivakov was the previous winner of the Ruta del Sol, having won the 2025 edition of the race. This year’s race has seen strong performances from several teams, including Uno-X Mobility, which holds second and third positions in the overall standings.
