Elche & Puçol Host Compelling Art & Environmental Exhibitions
Elche and Puçol are showcasing diverse cultural experiences from October 7th to 12th, and beyond. At the Elche Contemporary Art Museum (MACE), sculptor Moisés Gil’s exhibition, conscious stadiums, everyday episodes, continues through November 2nd. Gil, a professor at the Department of Belles Arts de Sant Carles (University Politècnica de València), presents a sculptural reflection on human fragility, stating, “I avoid the grandiloquent to stop me in everyday life, in what affects the human being from the most intimate and personal. My tense figures, of marked muscles, symbolize that continuous effort to which we are subjected every day.” The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m.
Simultaneously occurring, the Puçol School Museum features Re (cycle). The Erres through time,a student-led exhibition exploring the history of recycling and the “three erres” – reduce, reuse, and recycle – running through mid-November. The exhibition, developed by 5th and 6th grade students, highlights ancient practices of resourcefulness, such as repairing ceramics and repurposing materials for toys. Students created exhibits using recycled materials, including a tire swing, newspaper skirt, and a chess set made from palm and cane. the opening ceremony was attended by Inspector of Education, Silvia Martínez, and Councilors María Bonmatí and Irene Ruiz. Martínez emphasized the importance of understanding the past to shape the future.
