Bendan Regional Hospital to Enhance Services with New CT scan and Cytotoxic Room
Bendan Regional Hospital is preparing to significantly improve its diagnostic and cancer treatment capabilities with the upcoming installation of a new CT Scan facility and a dedicated Cytotoxic Room. While construction of these facilities is facing delays, hospital officials are confident in eventual completion and the positive impact on patient care.
Mayor Aaf acknowledged that several government projects scheduled for 2025,including those at Bendan Regional Hospital, are experiencing delays, attributing them to “classic problems in construction implementation.” He noted that despite these challenges, projects completed in 2024 are expected to meet quality standards. “Many tenders in 2025 will be late. The Inspectorate Building will also be late, Labkesda will also most likely be late, here it will also be late,” he stated.
The hospital received a Sub DAK budget for the construction of the CT Scan room, which will be located in the Emergency Room area. The CT Scan equipment itself is expected to be delivered by the Ministry of Health following a survey planned for February 2026, with installation perhaps beginning in March 2026.
Alongside the CT Scan room, the hospital is also renovating space on the second floor of the old building to create a Cytotoxic Room. This room is specifically designed for the safe compounding of chemotherapy drugs, ensuring the safety of both healthcare workers and patients.
Dr. Dwi Heri Wibawa, Director of Bendan Regional Hospital, explained that the project is currently experiencing a delay of approximately 20 percent, primarily due to procurement and installation challenges with the Air Handling Unit (AHU) equipment. However, the contractor has committed to completing all work by December 12, 2025, though this will incur late fines. “They were able to finish on the 12th. The consequence is of course there will be late fines. But thank God, all the equipment is already at the location and all that remains is to install it,” Dr. Wibawa said.
The addition of these facilities is expected to dramatically improve the quality of care at Bendan Regional Hospital. The new CT Scan facility will increase the capacity of radiology services and expedite the diagnosis of conditions like stroke, injuries, and other internal diseases. Dr. Wibawa emphasized the importance of the cytotoxic Room in enhancing cancer treatment services.
“We are committed to continuing to improve health services through improving facilities, improving management, and building health infrastructure that supports the quality of public services,” Dr. Wibawa concluded. “With the completion of these two spaces,we hope that Bendan Hospital will be one step further in providing more humane, modern and quality services.”
