CSKA Goalkeeper Gustavo Busato: Career & Departure

Gustavo Busato‌ will depart CSKA Sofia at the end of his contract, ending a ⁤seven-year run with the club, according to ‍reports from Topic Sport. The 34-year-old goalkeeper, who arrived‍ in the summer of 2019, has recently lost his starting position to Fyodor Lapukhov, signed⁤ earlier this year.

Busato’s current deal extends through June 2026, ‍with an ‌option for an additional year, but CSKA appears set to move forward with Lapukhov in goal. ⁣This marks the end of an era for the Brazilian-Italian player, a ⁢key figure​ in the team ‍who also served as captain and holds the record for moast appearances ⁣by a foreign player in CSKA’s history.Arriving from local ‌side inno, ⁣Busato quickly established⁢ himself as the first-choice ‌goalkeeper, amassing⁤ a⁣ total of 203 appearances across all competitions for the 31-time bulgarian champions. This includes 154 First League matches,18‍ Bulgarian⁢ Cup games,one Super‌ Cup⁢ appearance,and 30 European tournament outings.‌

During his tenure, ‌Busato conceded 159 goals while achieving 98 clean sheets. He surpasses​ Ibrahima Guy (160 appearances), Jefferson (160 appearances, fewer games ‍played), and Thiago Rodriguez (154 appearances) ⁤as the most-capped foreign player in⁢ CSKA’s history.​ Busato will turn 35 on October 23rd.
