Crystal Palace Set to Sack Pierre Sage After Liverpool Defeat
Crystal Palace are set to sack manager Pierre Sage following a 1-3 defeat away to Liverpool on Sunday, The Athletic reported.
Palace plummeted to the bottom of the Premier League table on Sunday afternoon, losing their fourth league match at Selhurst Park, according to uk.sports.yahoo.com.
The London club have won just two of their 10 league matches this season. They currently boast the division’s worst defence with 24 goals conceded.
Sage was appointed as Oliver Glasner’s successor last summer on a three-year contract. He has won just five of his 15 matches in all competitions, alongside three draws and seven defeats.
The former Olympique Lyonnais and RC Lens manager will see his English adventure end with the upcoming international break.
Thomas Frank and Sean Dyche are reportedly among the candidates considered to replace the Frenchman. Both managers left their former clubs in February, with Frank departing Tottenham Hotspur and Dyche leaving Nottingham Forest.
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard is also said to be favoured by the Selhurst Park hierarchy. His current side sits 17th in the Premier League.

Sage has been under serious pressure for weeks, but club chiefs are expected to pull the trigger with the team rock bottom. His difficult start has been attributed partly to the departure of key players and recruitment problems, alongside defensive weaknesses.
Following Sunday’s match, Sage insisted he remained focused on team improvement rather than his own position. When asked whether he expected to remain in charge after the international break, he replied, Better than you, I think.
He added, Today my job is not the most important thing, as I always said from the beginning. The most important thing is to find an efficient solution for the team and the club.
Palace sit at the foot of the Premier League with 10 matches played ahead of the international break.
