Crystal Jade shuts four Singapore outlets and cuts 120 jobs ahead of proposed sale
Restaurant group Crystal Jade has terminated approximately 120 employees and shut four Singapore outlets as part of a restructuring process preceding a proposed sale of the business. The closures, which took effect on 6 October 2026, impact three Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao locations at i12 Katong, Toa Payoh, and Bugis Junction, as well as Crystal Jade GO at Oasis Terraces in Punggol.
The restructuring was overseen by advisory firm Kroll, whose representatives were appointed as receivers for the holding companies of Crystal Jade’s Hong Kong and Singapore operations on 29 September. Following the implementation of these measures, Kroll stated that the Singapore business now maintains a workforce of about 210 and nine operating outlets, though the company’s own locator lists eight.
Crystal Jade Works with Unions to Assist Displaced Staff
Termination notices were issued to workers in the closed restaurants and specific corporate functions. Affected staff will be paid their salaries up to their final day of employment, with restaurant personnel receiving compensation according to their contracts and serving their notice periods.

Since 30 September, Kroll and Crystal Jade have collaborated with the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) and other associations to assist displaced workers. FDAWU general secretary Sankaradass S. Chami stated that the union’s focus is to ensure workers are “treated fairly, kept informed and received the support they need.” He added that the union is “heartened” to have been approached to support workers and families during this “difficult and uncertain time.”
In coordination with NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), the union curated more than 400 job opportunities in the hospitality, food services, retail, and food manufacturing sectors. Employer partners including Din Tai Fung, Neo Group Bakery, and Paris Baguette participated in on-site interviews for the affected staff. FDAWU also provided care packs of groceries and daily essentials to union members.
Group Shuts Nine Singapore Restaurants and Central Kitchen
The recent closures follow a series of shutdowns earlier in 2026 at Jurong Point, The Clementi Mall, Great World, Suntec City, and Hillion Mall. Specific closure dates included Suntec City on 16 July, Great World on 1 September, The Clementi Mall on 15 September, and Jurong Point on 18 September. Including the October closures, the group has shut nine Singapore restaurants this year.
The group's central kitchen, Crystal Jade Food Manufacturing, also ceased operations on 5 October. This decision was made by management as part of the wider restructuring and fell outside the scope of the receivership. Kroll representatives indicated they do not expect further outlet closures in Singapore.
Some Outlets Remain Open with Specific Voucher Rules
Current operating locations include Crystal Jade Palace at Takashimaya, Crystal Jade Golden Palace at The Paragon, and four Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen outlets at Tampines 1, One Holland Village, Takashimaya, and Causeway Point. The Crystal Jade Pavilion at VivoCity is temporarily closed for renovation, and one La Mian Xiao Long Bao outlet remains at Changi Airport Terminal 1 in the departure lounge.
Customers using Jadeite eVouchers should note that they cannot be redeemed at the Tampines 1 location. Due to the renovation at VivoCity and the airside location at Changi Airport, eVouchers are currently usable at only five walk-in restaurants.
