Coyote vs. Acme Release Date: Global Theatrical Premiere in August 2026

Coyote vs. Acme” Finally Lands August 2026 Theatrical Release Date After Years on the Shelf

The long-delayed live-action/animated hybrid film, “Coyote vs.Acme,” has officially secured a global theatrical release date of august 28, 2026.The proclamation was made by actor Will Forte during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, bringing an end to a protracted saga for the shelved project.

The film, which boasts a cast including John Cena and Lana Condor, completed filming in 2022. It was originally slated for release on HBO Max and centers on the iconic Wile E. Coyote as he initiates legal proceedings against the Acme Corporation for its consistently defective products.

Production was progressing smoothly under director Dave Green until 2023, when Warner Bros. announced that “Coyote vs.Acme” would not be released on Max, or any other platform, as the studio shifted its focus towards theatrical releases. This decision led to widespread disappointment among audiences and filmmakers, sparking a campaign to ensure the film’s release and to honor the work invested in it. An investigation by IGN last year delved into the behind-the-scenes journey of “Coyote vs.Acme,” featuring insights from a voice actor who was instrumental in the effort to save the film.
