Cowboys and Packers Battle to Historic Tie After Overtime Thriller
ARLINGTON, TX – In a stunning Sunday night matchup, the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers fought to a 40-40 tie, marking only the second time in NFL history a game has ended with that score. The contest, defined by a back-and-forth quarterback duel, required overtime heroics from both teams’ kickers.
The game featured a highly anticipated return from Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, who registered a sack. However, the night ultimately belonged to the quarterbacks, with both Dak Prescott and Jordan Love throwing for three touchdowns each during regulation. A remarkable seven consecutive touchdowns led to multiple lead changes.
Love finished with 337 passing yards, connecting three times with receiver Romeo Doubs for touchdowns, while Packers running back Josh Jacobs added two rushing touchdowns. Prescott tallied 319 passing yards, finding George Pickens twice and Jake Ferguson once through the air, and also contributed a rushing touchdown of his own.
A 53-yard field goal from Packers kicker Brandon McManus as time expired in the fourth quarter forced the overtime period. Both brandon Aubrey of the Cowboys and McManus then successfully converted field goals in overtime, ultimately resulting in the rare tie.
The 40-40 draw is the second-highest scoring tie in NFL history, surpassed only by the 43-43 contest between the Raiders and boston Patriots in 1964.
