Cowboys Sign Cornerback Derion Kendrick to One-Year Deal
The Dallas Cowboys are bolstering their defensive secondary with the addition of cornerback Derion Kendrick, who will sign a one-year deal with the team, according to a person familiar with the decision.
Kendrick, 25, began his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams after being selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 47 career games, making 17 starts, and has recorded 102 total tackles and three interceptions, according to data available as of the end of the 2025 season.
Prior to joining the Cowboys, Kendrick experienced a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks. He was claimed off waivers by Seattle ahead of the 2025 season but was later reclaimed by the Rams in late November of the same year. His time with the Seahawks included five game appearances.
Before transitioning to the professional level, Kendrick played college football for both Clemson and Georgia. He was a key contributor to championship-winning teams at both institutions, earning two CFP national championships in 2018 with Clemson and 2021 with Georgia. At Clemson, he transitioned from a wide receiver role to cornerback, earning First-team All-ACC honors in 2020 and Second-team All-ACC recognition in 2019.
Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kendrick attended South Pointe High School where he excelled as a dual-threat quarterback and wide receiver. As a senior, he was named the South Carolina Gatorade Football Player of the Year after amassing 2,683 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, 1,194 rushing yards, and 20 touchdowns. He participated in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Game.
