Costa Rica Women’s Soccer Falls 2-5 to Brazil in International Friendly
Brazil defeated Costa Rica 5-2 in an international friendly match held at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The match saw an early offensive push from the Brazilian side, with Kerolin Ferraz scoring the opening goal in the 10th minute.
Jheniffer Gouveia extended Brazil’s lead just three minutes later, capitalizing on a through-ball to make it 2-0. Taina Lopes added a third goal for Brazil in the 27th minute with a well-placed shot that left the Costa Rican defense unable to respond. A further goal for the visitors before halftime was disallowed following a VAR review for offside.
Costa Rica responded in the second half, with Priscila Chinchilla scoring in the 52nd minute, taking advantage of hesitation between the Brazilian goalkeeper Thais and her defenders to reduce the deficit to 3-1. Chinchilla scored again in the 66th minute, securing a brace and bringing the score to 3-2, briefly raising hopes for a Costa Rican comeback.
Yet, Brazil quickly regained control. Adriana Silva converted a penalty to make it 4-2, and Jheniffer Gouveia completed a brace of her own, sealing the final score at 5-2. Gouveia’s goal underscored Brazil’s dominance as one of the world’s strongest national teams.
Kerolin Ferraz, currently playing for Manchester City Women, opened the scoring for Brazil. Jheniffer Gouveia represents Tigres UANL Femenil.
