Corrections & Ethics Policy
Trust is a fragile asset. World Today News maintains this trust through radical transparency. We acknowledge that errors can occur in a fast-moving news environment, but our commitment is to fix them openly and promptly.
1. Corrections Protocol
We do not engage in “stealth editing.” If a factual error is identified in any published piece, we adhere to the following protocol:
- Submission: Errors are flagged by readers, subjects of stories, or internal review via our Compliance Desk.
- Verification: The Section Editor reviews the claim against primary evidence.
- Modification: If an error is confirmed, the text is updated immediately to reflect the accurate information.
- Notation: A “Correction” footnote is appended to the bottom of the article. This note details what was changed and when.
2. Retraction Policy
In rare cases where an article is found to be fundamentally flawed or based on fabricated evidence, we will issue a full retraction. The original text will be removed and replaced with an Editor’s Note explaining the reason for the retraction to preserve the historical record of our accountability.
3. Conflicts of Interest
Our editorial team operates independently:
- Financial Disclosure: Writers for our Business section are required to disclose any financial holdings in companies they cover.
- No Pay-for-Play: We do not accept payment, gifts, or travel accommodation in exchange for favorable coverage.
- Political Neutrality: While we analyze politics, our reporters do not participate in political campaigning or advocacy work.
4. Sourcing & Anonymity
We believe the public deserves to know the source of information. We grant anonymity only under strict conditions: when the source faces professional or physical retaliation, and the information is vital to the public interest. In such cases, we will disclose the reason for anonymity and the source’s proximity to the information.
