Cork Woman’s Tribute After Partner Dies in Meat Factory Accident | thejournal.ie
A Cork woman has paid tribute to her partner, Patrick Gleeson, who died following a workplace incident at a meat factory in Roscrea, County Tipperary, earlier this month. The incident occurred at a facility operated by Dawn Meats.
Gleeson’s partner, speaking to The Journal, described him as “the most wonderful man” and expressed her devastation at his loss. Details surrounding the incident remain limited, with investigations ongoing.
The death of Patrick Gleeson comes as the Irish agri-food sector mourns the loss of Dan Browne, a co-founder of Dawn Meats. Browne passed away in June 2025 at the age of 88, having led the company for 27 years and transforming it into one of Europe’s largest meat processors. Tributes have been paid to Browne as a “pioneering figure in agriculture.”
Dawn Meats, established by Browne, operates multiple facilities across Ireland and the United Kingdom, and exports to a wide range of international markets. The company has not yet issued a statement regarding the investigation into Gleeson’s death.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident at the Roscrea plant. No findings have been released to date.
