Major Housing Projects Approved and Under Review
The Land Development Agency (LDA) submitted a planning application in April for a seven-year project to construct 348 units on a greenfield site in Wilton, adjacent to the ESB DAC office on Sarsfield Road. this development will feature cost rental apartments, two-story townhouses, and social housing apartments, along with a 156-square-meter childcare facility. Cork City Council has requested further information, with a decision expected before the end of the summer.
In West Cork, HB Cloheen Developments Ltd. has applied to build 246 residential dwellings in Cloheen near clonakilty. The project includes 177 houses, ranging from one to five bedrooms, as well as apartment blocks and a 473-square-meter creche with capacity for 65 children. A decision from Cork county Council is anticipated by August 6.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, announced a €436 million investment to meet social housing needs nationwide, with over 230 homes allocated for Cork city and county to be delivered between 2025 and 2027.
