Cork Author’s Viral Book Series to Become Prime Video TV Show

February 11, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Prime Video has commissioned a television adaptation of Irish author Chloe Walsh’s bestselling “Boys of Tommen” book series, with production slated to begin this year, according to announcements made on February 11, 2026.

The series, which captivated readers and gained prominence on TikTok, will initially cover the first two novels, “Binding 13” and “Keeping 13.” The adaptation will be led by Poppy Cogan, known for her work on “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” who will serve as lead writer and executive producer. The producers of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “One Day,” and “Twilight” are also involved in the project, signaling a significant investment in bringing the story to the screen.

Set in the fictional Irish town of Ballylaggin, County Cork, the story centers on the forbidden romance between Johnny Kavanagh, a promising rugby player, and Shannon Lynch, a shy newcomer to Tommen College, a prestigious private school. Both characters harbor secrets – Johnny facing a potentially career-ending injury and Shannon grappling with a difficult home life – which complicate their connection.

“The response from readers around the world has been overwhelming, and knowing that everyone behind this production and book shares my passion for telling this story authentically means the world to me,” Walsh stated in a press release.

The adaptation is a joint effort between Drama Republic, Temple Hill, wiip, and Amazon MGM Studios. Nicole Clemens, head of international content at Prime Video, oversaw the greenlight, marking a key initiative in her modern role. The series will consist of eight episodes.

Walsh’s series, which began with the release of “Boys of Tommen” in 2018, has expanded to a total of ten novels. The success of the books has been attributed to their blend of romance, relatable issues, and a nostalgic setting in 1990s and 2000s Cork. The potential for filming in Cork has sparked interest in local employment opportunities, with possibilities for casting local extras and talent.

Prime Video has not yet announced a release date, but anticipates the show could premiere in 2027.
