Goulburn Trainer Seib Eyes Cootamundra Cup Victory with Due Calzini
COOTAMUNDRA, NSW – Goulburn trainer Danielle Seib is poised to continue her winning form at Cootamundra Racecourse this Sunday, entering Due Calzini as the favorite in the Central Hotel Cootamundra Cup (1600m). Seib will also saddle hellinda in the Riverina Ford Benchmark 66 Handicap (1100m), creating a strong presence for her stable at the Riverina meet.
The Cootamundra Cup, a $32,000 event, represents a key opportunity for both horses and a potential boost for Seib’s stable. With Due Calzini boasting a strong record and a recent trial win, and Hellinda consistently placing in previous races, Seib is optimistic about their chances. The outcome of Sunday’s races could significantly impact their future racing schedules and potential for further success.
“Due Calzini is a very good horse, he’s been good for us, and I’m hoping that he can go on with the job on Sunday,” Seib stated. The gelding has accumulated four wins and six placings from 20 career starts, including a recent victory over a longer distance at Wagga.Seib highlighted a solid trial performance as further planning for the Cup.
Hellinda, while having only secured two wins from 23 starts, demonstrates remarkable consistency, having finished second nine times. “He’s only won the two races from 23 starts, but he has finished second nine times so he’s never too far away,” Seib explained. “It looks a suitable race for him on Sunday.”
Adding to the competitive field, Wagga trainer Tim Donnelly will be looking for redemption with County Kilkenny, who placed second in last year’s Cootamundra Cup. Both Seib’s gallopers will be ridden by Boudvillain.
