LAS VEGAS – Communities In Schools (CIS) of Nevada has appointed Laura Meyer as it’s southern Nevada Executive Director, the organization announced today. Meyer will lead CIS of Nevada’s efforts to connect students with vital resources and support systems across the region.
CIS of Nevada currently places full-time, professionally trained site coordinators in 117 Title I and high-needs schools throughout the state, serving nearly 100,000 students in grades K-12. These coordinators work to remove barriers to student success – from providing basic needs like eyeglasses, dental care, and food, to connecting students with healthcare and counseling services.
“She has been a driving force in advancing our mission to connect Nevada’s nearly 100,000 students with the support and resources they need to graduate and thrive in life,” said Hance-Lehr.”With Laura’s deep commitment to our mission and her ‘All In For Kids’ mentality, we are confident that even more students across Nevada will have the possibility to achieve their dreams.”
CIS of Nevada partners with a network of over 120 community nonprofits, agencies, and partners to deliver complete “wraparound” services. The organization reports a 97 percent graduation rate for case-managed high school seniors in Nevada during the 2023-2024 school year.CIS aims to expand its reach,ultimately providing a site coordinator to every child enrolled in a Title I or high-needs school in Nevada.
