Comedian Hong In-gyu reveals painful Childhood Marked by Family separation and Search for Mother
Seoul, South Korea – November 17, 2025 – Beloved South Korean comedian Hong In-gyu recently shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking account of his childhood, revealing a family history marked by divorce, separation, and a poignant search for his mother. However, Kim Yong-man revealed a different, equally poignant story. He shared that Hong In-gyu’s parents divorced when he was just two years old, and he was subsequently raised by his grandmother and an uncle who was a boxer.
The comedian recounted a particularly heartbreaking memory of his early childhood: a determined,yet ultimately futile,attempt to find his mother. “At a young age, I knew my mother lived in seoul,” he explained. “I didn’t know what neighborhood, though. I was so naive that I thought the subway line would go to Seoul and walked along it.” His journey ended in disappointment, leaving him lost and without the connection he desperately sought.
